Team ASA
Many amazing organizations exist throughout the world, working hard to find cures for diseases and conditions that threaten our health, longevity and quality of life. It's an ongoing, worldwide effort that will undoubtedly help shape our tomorrows. Until then...we say, Carpe Diem!
Team ASA celebrates TODAY-our objective is to create those stand-up-and-cheer, finish line crossing, best-day-ever kinds of moments for people whose lives could be enriched greatly through the miracle of camaraderie. Team ASA is a non-profit organization that provides financial support for children and adults with unique physical or mental challenges, enabling them to join clubs, organizations and leagues that foster a sense of self, a sense of team, and an extended family. From bowling with friends on Saturday mornings, to swimming the third leg for his team's relay, to taking home Special Olympics Arizona's "Most Inspirational Athlete" award for Team Tempe at the Fall 2008 games, Asa Lynn Draper radiated positivity, light and sportsmanship.
Despite the physical challenges he experienced due to Neurofibromatosis, which included being legally blind and partially deaf, he lived, loved, and played like a champion...as if every day was a gift. Shouldn't we all? It is in his memory that we provide those stand-up-and-cheer opportunities to others, like Asa, who just need a little extra team spirit. Brrrring it!
